BIO

Militancy, ideals and particular and personal ways of thinking have become a rare sight in the world of music, where bands, festivals and brands seem determined to turn music into a clone factory with nothing that differentiates projects from one to the next.

When Los Sara Fontan started playing live around 2019, they decided to do it without recording any albums. Never. An anti-industry quixotic venture that nonetheless allowed them to perform for and surprise hundreds of spectators during their concerts (nearly 200) across Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, England, and Portugal. Nobody knew what to expect and the surprise effect amplified what came from the stage: an experimental duo, with a violin, a keyboard, a drum kit, an arsenal of pedal effects and resources that take them from contemporaneity to electronics, from the atmospheric to the unbridled in just a few seconds. Their music is born and dies on stage and that volatility turns each show into a kind of unrepeatable liturgy that remains only in the memory of those who are lucky enough enjoy it.

Their proposal has not only inhabited small, alternative rock venues or carefully programmed festivals (OOAM in Switzerland, Norpas in Finland, Eufònic or AMFest), but has quickly grown and expanded its energies into the world of performing arts. Their project *4132314*, created alongside Tarta Relena and Cocanha, won the Ciutat de Barcelona Award in 2022; they have shared the stage with renowned Catalan poet BlancaLlum Vidal for *La Princesa sou Vós* (2022) and with dancer Sónia Gómez (2023), and are also known for their collaborations with Amorante (SO), their sound design for *Los Detectives* (Antic Teatre, 2022), and soundtracks for works such as *Remember My Name*, *Magaluf Ghost Town* (Toronto Film Festival, 2021), and *Autodefensa*.

When at the end of 2022 they decided to record an album, no one could believe it. “Queda pendiente” (It remains pending) is not the summary of their 5 years of life, as would be expected, but rather it is a faithful reflection of what Los Sara Fontan are right now. It is a live, contemporary, meandering and absolutely dynamic album. It has been recorded live by the band itself (it is not necessary to name DIY here) and mixed by Santi García at the Ultramarinos, with a devastating mastering by Álvaro Gallego.

The list of adjectives expands with each listening: expansive, forceful, danceable, exciting… If instrumental music leaves room for the listener to interpret the listening, “Queda pendiente” is an exercise in sonic freedom that makes you continue to believe in music and in those who are behind it. The recording strengthens their live shows, which continue to be wild celebrations where polyrhythms, silences or well-managed sound pressure make us think that Los Sara Fontan, for that little while, do what they want with us. And what a pleasure, hey.

The album reinforces their commitment to live performance. The new cycle begins at ArcTanGent in Bristol, UK, in August 2023. That same day, the band plays at Cafe OTO in London. Thus begins a whirlwind tour that will never end.

Mercat de Vic, AMFest, LEM, a tour of Germany and Poland, Fira B, Monkey Week… and then came Eurosonic (Netherlands). A spectacular show that opened the doors to Europe for them. From there, they would go on to Sharpe (Slovakia) and Haldern Pop (Germany), taking in the incredible Fusion Fest (Germany), a tour with Jessica Moss, Rizoma Fest, Monkey Weekend, Tangent, a UK tour, Boga Boga Fest, a concert at the Thyssen Museum, a tour of the Netherlands, ProWeekend, Keroxen… An absolutely spectacular 2024.

In 2025, their live show is touring across much of Europe. Highlights include appearances at Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic), Pohoda Festival (Tren?ín, Slovakia), and Druga Godba (Ljubljana, Slovenia), alongside tours of the Netherlands, Hungary, and Croatia, as well as performances at Monkey Week and Portugal’s Nascentes festival. They wrap up the year with a tour spanning the transition from 2025 to 2026—spending over 30 days on the road performing at self-managed venues and friendly spaces—to showcase “Consuelo” months before its official release and bring their new music to an ever-growing audience.

“Consuelo,” their new album, goes on sale in February 2026, with a horizon full of concerts yet to be announced—and a great desire to create… new music!
