There’s something that’s always worthwhile in music. You might like a genre, a style, the mastery of a musician or a band, but there’s always something fascinating: the possibility of being surprised when you hear it. It might be a song, leaving you wanting more and then realizing it was, both live and in the rest of their recorded tracks. Something like that happened to us with PATIMENT.
Their sound and their intention were everything, and that’s what won us over from the first listen. They were eager to tell their story, to talk about all those feelings that come and go, becoming the nostalgia for the best moments and the anger that those moments are gone forever. As an example, “Agna,” the first single from this EP, in which PATIMENT (yes, in all caps) stir up those memories that are no longer repeated and transform them into something unfamiliar. So much so that it’s impossible not to wonder if we’ve changed that much.
The direction, photography, and editing of the accompanying video are the work of PATIMENT’s guitarists, Uriel Garcia and Didac Grau, and vocalists, respectively. Edgar Beltri handled the recording and production of “Agna.” Andrew Oswald was responsible for the mixing, while Didac Grau remained in the band to master the track.
With this new signing, we’re reinforcing Aloud Music’s language policy, because there are no limits. Languages ??are there; they’re another form of cultural richness worth exploring, discovering the way each language evokes feelings and emotions. We experienced this years ago when we listened to Puput, and in 2024, Roko Banana introduced us to the world of contemporary Catalan rock. It’s a universe worth exploring further.
PATIMENT
Between Sabadell and Ullastrell, a sound reached us with so much to say… Yes, we are talking about PATIMENT, the quartet formed by Uriel Garcia (rhythm guitar and vocals), Didac Grau (lead guitar and 2nd vocals), Xavier Gabarró (bass) and Lluc Rodríguez (drums).
After working on various projects, they joined forces to create PATIMENT, a band brimming with attitude and unafraid to blend elements from diverse genres. The 90s sound is definitely present, but they’ve gone much further, driven by their need to express all their pent-up rage, a product of the world around us.
Among their influences are Holograms, Protomartyr, Sievehead or Preocupattions among others, so it’s not surprising if we talk about their urgency with a lo-fi touch.
