Maud the Moth, in October in Barcelona
Maud the Moth is the alter ego of Amaya López-Carromero, a Spanish pianist, singer and composer based in Scotland, with a strong independent artistic vocation. Stylistically, Amaya uses her classical training as a loom to weave tapestries of sound riddled with distorted or effect-driven pianos, driven by an enigmatic and deeply moving voice.
Their new album,“The Distaff“, funded by Creative Scotland, was released in February 2025 and received excellent reviews from magazines such as Prog, Angry Metal Guy, The Skinny, Mondosonoro, etc. The lead single, “Siphonophores“, was selected by Mary Anne Hobbs as Hit Reset’s track of the week, and the album was also included in the Mastered at Abbey Road series.
His evocative songwriting and cathartic live performances have allowed him to perform at numerous international festivals and venues such as Roadburn (The Netherlands), Primavera Sound (Spain), AMFest 2022 (Spain), Ancient Echoes (Germany), Rock in Bourlon (France), Festival Noroeste (Spain), Celtic Connections (UK), Noite Branca (Portugal), Ronnie Scott’s (UK), Brudenell Piano Session (UK) and CCCB (Spain), among many others.
Maud the Moth has also been invited to perform as a guest artist by Chelsea Wolfe, Kayo Dot, Anna von Hausswolff, Hexvessel and Helen Money.
In May 2025, he toured in support of Earth in the UK and Ireland and will perform at ArcTanGent 2025 in August.
Their concert at the already distant AMFest 2022 was one of our favorites. We have seen Maud the Moth grow at a European level in an unstoppable way and position itself, deservedly, within the new European contemporary scene. After releasing his latest work,“The Distaff“, Amaya visits us in Barcelona next Wednesday October 16th at Sala VOL. Tickets can already be purchased at our own ticket office.
This concert is self-financed with ticket sales and is self-managed by Aloud Music and the artist.
No brand is involved and no money is provided for its realization.
