El Tercer Semestre
Due to their difficult rhythmic, twisted guitars and a bass that just goes superfast, El Tercer Semestre looks like one of those bands that come out of an American College that, when you see them live, blows your head away.
Reality is: they are from Sabadell – nowadays you don’t need to go that far to find quality – and they are a math-rock instrumental trio that presented their first EP in 2013,#TenderTropic. 6 songs that surprised the most demanding listeners for their freshness and energy: one ear devoted to the sonic architecture of the bands from Chicago, another one to the dancing floor. It’s complicated to talk about related bands here: some raise their hands and say Don Caballero, other move their feet and say Battles.
El Tercer Semestre, far from both, build their sounds on rehearsals and concerts. Tens of gigs in the last years keep defining a proposal that wants to be original and that keeps us waiting for exciting new chapters in the future. During 2015 they slowly cooked their first album, recorded in Siete Barba Estudios, under the control of Daniel Gil and Sergio Picón. The outcome will be published at the beginning of 2016 – together with their first videoclip, directed by Helena Torrent and Carles Ledesma.
