Yes, we’re not exaggerating.

The responses were quite varied, with some even doubting our assertion. What else could we say, it’s easy to say, considering it’s just four songs… But that’s exactly what happened to us as soon as we listened to PATIMENT.

Something that didn’t just happen to us. Since their debut single, “Agna,” PATIMENT have been making waves in social media and appearing on playlists like Jenesaispop’s (Ready for the Weekend) and Nuebo’s. Their urgency and desire to talk about everything around us won over everyone who listened, and the effect was repeated with their second single, “El final,” which was played on Radio 3’s Bandeja de Entrada.

These feelings resurface when you listen to the entire EP, when you discover the sound of “Noviembre” and “Germans.” And how, in a way, the songs speak to each other, raising themes and responding to one another. An idea is there, hanging in the air, and the next song seems to take a different approach, making its message increasingly energetic.

But PATIMENT goes further. Their unique sound is evident in every song. Their reflective power and ability to make post-punk their own are complemented by their capacity for instrumental dialogue. The strumming of Uriel Garcia and Dídac Grau’s guitars and Xavi Valeri’s bass seems to engage in a conversation with Lluc Rodríguez’s drumming.

The songs get stuck in your head and make you want to sing along at the top of your lungs. Maybe that’s why PATIMENT is in all caps 😉

PATIMENT

Between Sabadell and Ullastrell, a sound reached us with so much to say… Yes, we are talking about PATIMENT, the quartet formed by Uriel García (rhythm guitar and vocals), Dídac Grau (lead guitar and 2nd vocals), Xavi Valeri (bass) and Lluc Rodríguez (drums).

After working on various projects, they joined forces to create PATIMENT, a band brimming with attitude and unafraid to blend elements from diverse genres. The 90s sound is definitely present, but they’ve gone much further, driven by their need to express all their pent-up rage, a product of the world around us.

Among their influences are Holograms, Protomartyr, Sievehead or Preocupattions among others, so it’s not surprising if we talk about their urgency with a lo-fi touch.

PATIMENT present themselves with the four songs from this self-titled EP As they already discovered with their previews, the band is committed to Catalan and Spanish in their repertoire Edgar Beltri handled the recording and production of the EP, and Andrew Oswald the mixing.
