<\/div><\/div>When they emerged in mid-2022, palmeras negras<\/strong> defined themselves as post-everything. An EP, “ya no queda nada d\u00f3nde lo dej\u00e9<\/em>” (Desorden Sonoro, 2022), which made it clear that for them labels were limits to be stressed, to be pushed to such a point that they could be broken and intermixed with others. Three songs that led them to open for Monte Terror, to be part of the lineup at last year’s Happy Moy Fest with Viva Belgrado, and to record a new album that will be published by Aloud Music.<\/p>\n\n Because palmeras negras<\/strong> is the new signing of Aloud Music. Next Friday, March 22, we will be able to hear its first preview, “si recordara<\/strong>” A song makes us think about the value of words and how they understand post-rock.<\/em> Or whatever arises, because as you listen to it you perceive traces of other styles that they themselves have known how to condense, since the album has been recorded, produced and mixed by Jes\u00fas Barrau<\/strong> himself, voice, guitar and synthesizers of the band.<\/p>\n\n “si recordara<\/strong>” is accompanied by a video clip created by Rub\u00e9n Carrillo<\/strong> and Cristina Meca<\/strong>, two visual creators who have managed to connect perfectly with the aesthetics of palmeras negras<\/p>\n\n palmeras negras <\/strong>(always using lowercase) are a quintet from Almer\u00eda. Some of us knew them as a trio, since that was how they recorded their first EP Jes\u00fas Barrau<\/strong> (vocals, guitar and synthesizers), Diego Garc\u00eda<\/strong> (bass and screams) and Jes\u00fas Torres<\/strong> (guitar). But it didn’t take them long to become a quartet, incorporating V\u00edctor Guti\u00e9rrez<\/strong> on drums, as they needed more thinking heads and executing hands for a sound that never stopped growing. Then and now, because in post-production the most enriching additions always emerge.<\/p>\n\n So much so that they have gone from reminding us of shoegaze<\/em> and emo<\/em> to bringing to mind elements that make us think of doomgaze<\/em> and slowcore<\/em>. Groups like Low, Godspeed You!
