  • “Portals”, the new album of The Last 3 Lines

It’s been 5 years since the release of “Visions from Oniria“, the last album by The Last 3 Lines. In between, there was an acoustic EP (“Leafless“, 2013) and an electric EP (“New songs for old rites“, 2013), which already made see the pa.

  • 2016 goals

With the arrival of the new year, at Aloud Music we renew efforts (new logo, new website) and launch a new section of articles. Here, together with the interviews section, we’ll give the website a small journalistic touch to let you know what&#821.

BIO

The Last 3 Lines is a musical project born in Barcelona in 2006. 3 of its members (Sergi and Dani on guitar, and Jordi on drums) had shared a rehearsal room and sweat in Laihn, a band that left behind an album (“Puzzle“) and countless great shows. The search for travel companions paid off, and Xavi (vocals and acoustics) and Ruth (bass and backing vocals) joined the project, which didn’t take long to compose a good handful of songs and close their first concert.

That first direct was in the Sidecar on March 27, 2007, together with the British Dartz! and for the series of concerts that the Stereodiet radio program put on in those days. A lot of things happened at that concert, and from there came a management contract, a record contract and a 100% illusion on their first album.

Several concerts and months later, the band locked themselves in the studio with Dave Bianchi (USA) to record and master their first album, “You are a deep forest“, which would see the light in February 2008 by the label SiNlovers, helped for distribution by Aloud Music.

With the album would come the presentations of the album, including some very special ones, like the one they did on April 18 in Room 1 of the Razzmatazz, performing for more than 1,500 people, on a night where they turned the Barcelona room upside down. They also passed through Madrid on several occasions, for Demoscopic parties of the Mondosonoro (their demo had been the best of 2007), for FNAC Triangle, for the Poprockingclub festival in Girona, for the Electric Hotel Festival, they went on a Spanish tour with Blood Red Shoes and with the Infadels, were at the Microsonidos de Murcia, and rounded off a fantastic year with their presentation concert at the prestigious BAM , ??sharing the stage with Teenage FanClub.

Already in 2009, they decide to lock themselves in the studio to record 3 new songs, which they will release in October 2009 in 2 formats: vinyl and cd. The band replaces Ruth’s departure with 2 new members, Sac on bass and Marc Mateu on keyboards and programming. One of the first shows with the entire line-up presenting the new songs will be again at the Sidecar room, together with Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, where in front of a room full to overflowing they do one of their best live shows.

Just around that time, the band and the director Guillem Puig released the video clip for “Fish Tank“, an excellent job that mixes B-movies and a frankly funny and well shot story. The success of the video clip catapulted the band, having more than 50,000 views of the video on the different platforms on which it is exhibited. Then comes a last change of bass player, and Raúl Martínez (ex-Hedtrip) joins the band.

Several successful concerts during the presentation tour in Barcelona, ??Madrid, Polifonik Sound, Microsonidos, Fivecc, Donostikluba, … lead the band to be chosen as opening band for Placebo’s Spanish tour. They will share dates with Placebo in Barcelona, ??Gijón and Valladolid, playing for more than 15,000 people in 3 days. The dates in Palma de Mallorca and Madrid were cancelled, which does not prevent The Last 3 Lines from performing in Mallorca, before a surprised audience in the Cultura Club room, performing a memorable live show.

To his credit also the honor of having played for 400 people in the L’International in Paris (France), sharing the bill with Pollux from Rio.

In November 2010 and after a joint tour with Layabouts, the band locked themselves in their studio to compose their next album, with the idea of ??releasing it in 2011. Thus, in September 2011 they sent the finished album to be mastered in the US, at Sterling studios, where bands like Arcade Fire or Arctic Monkeys mastered. The result is reflected in “Visions from Oniria“, which represents a stylistic opening for the band. Where before there was garage, now we find echoes of folk. Where there was disorder before, majestic compositions appear, harmonious choruses (his taste for the 70s is still present) and some songs that if they certify anything, it is the unique personality of The Last 3 Lines.

For their presentation, they return to repeat the appointment at Razzmatazz1, playing for more than 1000 people, and they embark on a tour that takes them to Madrid, Valencia, Zaragoza, etc… But before, in January 2012, they achieve the milestone to be the only band present at the festival MIDEM, in Cannes, where they played guests by CocaCola.

A complete tour of Spain, including visits to Madrid, Murcia, Monkey Week is preceded by the invitation that Placebo extends to them, once again, to open their concert in Barcelona. The Last 3 Lines offer one of their best shows ending with this gesture:

At the beginning of 2013, they surprise the public with the publication of “Leafless“, an Acoustic EP of 6 songs that they will present with a sold-out at the Heliogàbal and several acoustic ones around the city of Barcelona.

Jordi’s march (drums) is replaced by Marco Bazzi, an Italian drummer who gives a new speed to the band. At the end of 2013, The Last 3 Lines publish “New songs for old rites“, a limited edition EP that includes 5 songs in which labels and corsets are removed, and whose personality marked by psychedelia and melodies is imprinted on every minute of the disc.

Their live performance at La [2] in Barcelona during the “Dark Side of Aloud” festival is the prelude to a 4-date tour of Italy, in which they shoot the documentary “Il Senso della banda“, which will be released in 2016.

Already in 2014, the band combines acoustic and direct (Euskadi, Madrid) and in May they open the Rayban stage at Primavera Sound, being their first performance at the prestigious Barcelona festival. A devastating concert, with a great sound, which confirms them as one of the most interesting bands on the national scene. From there to his classic hibernation to compose a new album… After a show at the BIS, in September 2014, the band disappeared from the map to start preparing the recording of their next album. Meanwhile, Sergio Pardo (founding guitarist) leaves the band to dedicate himself to his solo projects.

The Last 3 Lines record their new album, “Portals”, with Daniel Gil at the controls, at Siete Barbas Estudio. Before, in November, they sign a previous presentation in the renovated Sala BeGood, which ends with a historic soldout.

The album goes on sale on February 16, 2017. “Portals” is rock skilfully mixed with progressive folk, increasingly impressive voices, deep keyboards and an important lyrical charge always bordering on darkness. The now quintet delivers 9 songs that pass like a breath, like a bullet that brushes the skin and leaves a mark for life. With a personality that stands the test of time, The Last 3 Lines deliver their most personal and risky work, edited in CD digifile format, with an exclusive sleeve, and limited to 250 copies.

A short time later they disappear from the stages and the band remains in a permanent hiatus to this day.
