BIO

Santa Rita was born on a cold and windy day in February 2008 in a room in Poblenou that was in constant danger of extinction. After a lot of work where they gave free rein to their intuition and trial-error, they took to the stage for the first time in July 2009, they took a liking to it and since then they haven’t stopped.

They opened for Juliette Lewis at the Apolo, they were selected to play in the Myspace-Smint tent of the Primavera SoundThey also went through the festivals God Save the Queens I and III, and Revolta! held at La2 de Nitsa, the III Festival of Independent Labels in Madrid, Rock & Rostoll in Mallorca, Atardeceres no Gaiás in Santiago de Compostela, and a long list of more than 50 performances.

In 2010 they decided to record in the local of the Catalans (lo:muêso) completely independently, with the invaluable help of Sergio Picón, in charge of collecting the sound and shaping what is his first self-titled EP, which would be released together with his first video clip Close to the Pharmacy, in early 2011.

At the end of that same year, Eugenia Kiernan, the bassist, left the band, and Martha Wood entered in her place.

Once the new formation was consolidated, at the end of 2012 they recorded at the Ultramarinos Costa Brava with Santi García what will be their first studio album, a CD/LP, High on the seas, which comes out on March 11, 2013, released by Aloud Music Ltd.

From there, Santa Rita began a tour that took them to Barcelona, ??Madrid, Valencia, Euskadi,… stopping at some festivals like Nocturama (Sevilla), where they played for more than 1000 people, or PopArb (Arbúcies) and Twestival Barcelona. His growing career is hampered on several occasions. A serious injury to Laura’s back, her drumming, legal problems with her name, and the departure of Martha (who would be replaced by Armando on bass), will cause the number of concerts performed to collapse and they will announce, at the beginning of 2016, their dissolution as a band.
