BIO

The history of Nothink goes back to 1998, when Juan and Álex, classmates, began to share afternoons playing in a garage in Madrid. In the following years, and until 2003, they recorded some demos between the coming and going of different members of the band. It is in that year when they finally find the third axis of the group, Miguel, who would occupy the battery permanently, and they begin to shape most of the songs that make up their current repertoire.

Nothink is a rock band that seeks to experiment, play with textures and environments, always creating different shades of euphoria and melancholy. His hallmarks are raw guitars with a powerful base and vibrant choruses full of melodies, which are mainly nourished by 90s rock.

Reviewing his career, we rescue “Skip Forward“, his previous demo, with four songs, which was chosen as the best demo of the year 2003 by Mondosonoro. With that same demo, they won first place in the Festimad’04 contest, an opportunity that allowed them to open the festival with great acceptance by the public present there.

With an intense and rabid live show, they have performed in all the mythical venues of the capital such as Moby Dick, Siroco, Galileo Galilei, Chesterfield café, Grotto 77, Swell, Honky Tonk, Ritmo&Compás… And they have opened for bands like Engine Down, The Unfinished Sympathy, Berri Txarrak, Ariel Kill Him, Tribute to Nothing or Joshua.

Their good work on stage has led them to tour the country to cities such as Almería, Castellón, Sevilla, Barcelona, ??Zaragoza… and independent festivals in which they have shared the bill with international bands, such as the Festizam in Zamora or the Takio Fest in Cantabria. They have also dared to offer us another vision of their songs by giving a couple of acoustic concerts for RNE and Telemadrid Radio, stations that play their songs frequently.

Soon the opportunity would come for them to capture all that experience in their first album, “Bipolar age“. The album, self-produced and edited by Aloud Music in June 2005, has been recorded at Estudios Ultramarinos in Costa Brava, directed by Santi Garcia, and will present it throughout the peninsula after the summer. There will be more than 60 concerts between 2005 and 2007, highlighting his performance at the Sant Feliu Fest 2006 and the Festimad 2005, in addition to his support for bands such as Beatsteaks, Egine Down, The Appleseed Cast, Brant Bjork and the BROS, Millencolin, Def with Dos, Berri Txarrak, No More Lies, Hedtrip or The Unfinished Sympathy.

Nothink present their second album, titled “Spotlights” and edited by the independent label Aloud Music, in November 2007. An album that will receive unbeatable criticism from the public and the specialized press, being chosen as the best national album of the year 2007 in various media (among them the prestigious ROCKZONE), which have positioned the trio as one of the most outstanding rock groups on the scene. current.

Spotlights is recorded at Estudios Ultramarinos Costa Brava by Santi García and on this occasion it has luxury collaborations such as Ramón Rodríguez from Madee or Dani Llamas from G.A.S. drummersand the orchestration in some themes by the Filarmónica de Kiev.

Their presence at Getafe Electric Weekend 2008, along with Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Queens of the Stone Age or Biffy Clyro, elevates them to the honorary positions of billed alternative rock in Spain. After this festival, many others (FISC, Navia Rock, Musik’n’Viu…) and innumerable concerts throughout the country.

At the beginning of 2009 the band publishes “Rats & Foxes”, a single via internet that will be published in a compilation of the label and in a future compilation of singles and B-sides that the group will publish focusing its promotion on the English market. Their singer, Juan Blas, lives in London all year round and the band will play outside the country for the first time on February 11, 2009.

After several concerts in London, where they aroused the attention of some followers and promoters, the band locked themselves up to compose their third album. In March 2010, confirmation arrives that Nothink will record in the US. It will be at Litho Studios (owned by Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard), the recording will last 40 days and the producer will be the renowned Matt Bayles, who has produced Pearl Jam, Mastodon and Isis, among others.

The trip to the US is reflected in “Hidden State“, the band’s third studio album, released once again by Aloud Music. Several events are organized to celebrate the release, including a showcase for less than 100 followers in Madrid, especially for people who buy the album over the Internet. They sell out in less than 18 hours.

Sales skyrocket and the tour is a success. More than 30 shows, including the presence in some festivals. The Cuatro TV station gives a good account of this in a report on its news, which still attracts more public for the band.

In September they present in Madrid, with a historic soldout (more than 100 people are left without a ticket) at Sala El Sol, and in November they do the same in Barcelona, ??in a concert with Toundra at Sala Bikini in Barcelona, ??where they gather more of 400 people.

Already in 2011, the band concentrates its efforts on renewing its live show, combining it with the composition of new songs and its performance in some festivals.

After the success of “Hidden State“, the band records the EP “Let me go” in Los Angeles. In the days of their announcement, June 2012, they surprise with the decision to break up as a band.

In 2015 the band will hold reunion concerts, the first and most important being the one that leads them to lead the 2015 edition of the AMFest, where they play to a full house and prove to be in enviable shape. After a few festivals, they close 2015 with a memorable concert in the full Penélope Hall in Madrid, where they announce: “See you in 2016“.
