Hidden state (Cd & Vinyl)
We know it’s not true, but for many, alternative rock was born in Seattle. That is why Nothink, all of them mad followers of grunge and its legacy, decided to record their third album in that city.
From the very beginning, the weight of history could be smelled in the air. At Litho Studios, the drums were recorded with the drumkit of the first drummer of Pearl Jam. On the walls, golden records of Soundgarden, regulars of the same studio. For guitars, some of the effects that we had only listened on the best grunge records ever. The mics used by Eddie Vedder, James Hetfield or Bono (SM7B). To look after guitars, the hands of Kurt Bloch, guitar player of The Young Fresh Fellows.
Written between London and Madrid, and recorded between March and April 2010, “Hidden State” is, first of all, an album of well written songs. “In a Row” (first single), “Coleman Fields”, “We live on”, “Melting Sun”, “Innerzia”… The sound brings us an evolved band, much more straight on, with a power unusual for their age and fulfilling the expectation their first two albums had generated. Nobody they would call them a “national band”, as this album flirts with the best works of Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age or Biffy Clyro. There are so many hits, in “Hidden State”.
