Stearica is a trio from Turin, Italy. In the last ten years they have been on tour with legends of the independent scene like NoMeansNo, GirlsAgainstBoys, Suzuki Damo, Ex El, Karate, Acid Mothers Temple (with whom they shared a 32 gigs on a European tour) and Tarentel; not too bad right?!
Also, they shared project with international artists like Dälek (ipecacuana), Amy Denio (Fred Frith, Derek Bailey), Jessica Lurie (Bill Frisell, Nels Cline) and Storring Nick (Damo Suzuki red, Picastro).
In 2008 they released 2008 “Oltre”: the album was distributed and reviewed positively all over the World (a famous Italian magazine, “Il Mucchio” said “This is the best Italian album in years), which allowed them to lay in international festivals like the Soy Festival de Nantes (with Why?, Six Organce of Admittance y No Age), or the Traffic Festival of Turin (with Battles and Tricky); they were the only Italian band at the Hokaben Festival in London (with Sun Ra Arkestra, Don Caballero y kid 606), at the Be2gether Festival, the most important festival in the disappeared Soviet Union (with Groove Armada, Clínica, GvsB, etc) and at Primavera Sound 2011.
In October 2009, another international success came when THE WIRE – the most famous independent music magazine of the World – picked “Occhio” as the first song on Vol.22 of “The Wire Tapper”, well known compilation that in the last decade has promoted artists that are know global stars, like Sigur Ros, Liars, Labradford, Four Tet, etc).
In 2011, Aloud Music Ltd released a 2nd edition of “Oltre” for Spain together with Homephatic Records. That year, they played Primavera Sound as one of the “Primavera at the underground” concerts. Noisy and surprising. Then, a 10-day tour in Spain and Portugal brought them to play at the “Ciclo de Rock Instrumental” in Valencia, the Amplifest in Porto, and other gigs in Sevilla, Madrid, Murcia and Basque Country.
Since then, the band started working at its next album, which was released in 2015 by Monotreme Records. “Fertile” brings again the band to the highest place of the European instrumental rock scene. Good reviews come from all over Europe and they play at AMFest Barcelona 2015, with an unforgettable show (ask who was there!) after touring Spain (Zaragoza, Basque Country and Madrid).
