The story of Nothink goes back to 1998, when Juan y Álex, classmates back then, started playing in a garage. Until 2003 they recorded some demos together with some other provisional members of the band. Then they found the third member, Miguel, who would be the drummer from that moment on.
Nothink is a rock band that loves experiments, play with textures and ambients, always creating different layers of euphoria and melancholy. The rock from the 90’s is what constantly feeds them.
Their first album, “Bipolar age“, was released in 2005. Self-produced and released by Aloud Music in June, it was recorded at Estudios Ultramarinos de Costa Brava, under Santi Garcia, and was presented in Summer all over Spain. More than 60 concerts between 2005 y 2007, playing with bands like Beatsteaks, Engine Down, The Appleseed Cast, Brant Bjork and the BROS, Millencolin and many more.
The second album, “Spotlights“, again released by Aloud Music, came out in November 2007. It was acclaimed by both public and the critics, elected the best Spanish album of 2007 by many magazines, putting Nothink on the top of the national scene.
Their presence at the Getafe Electric Weekend 2008, with Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Queens of the Stone Age or Biffy Clyro, put them on the map for thousands of people in Spain.
At the beginning of 2009, the band released the single “Rats & Foxes” on the Internet, focussing its promotion on the British market. The singer, Juan Blas, lived in London all the year and the band will play for the first time outside Spain on February 11th 2009.
After a few gigs in London, drawing the attention of fans and promoters, the band started recording the third album. In March 2010, Nothink confirmed that they would record the album in the USA, at Litho Studios (owned by Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam), during 40 days, and that the producer was Matt Bayles, producer of, among others, Pearl Jam, Mastodon or Isis.
The trip to the US brings “Hidden State“, third album, of the band, again released by Aloud Music. Many events for the presentation were organized, such as a showcase for less then 100 people, just for those who had bought the album online. It sold out in less than 18 hours.
The album was presented in September in Madrid (sold out show with more than 100 people left without a ticket) at Sala El Sol, and in Barcelona in November, together with Toundra at Sala Bikini, in front of more than 400 people.
In 2015 the band came back with a few reunion concerts, the first and most important headlining the March edition of AMFest, playing in a packed venue and showing their perfect shape. After a few festivals, they closed 2015 with an unforgettable show at a packed Sala Penélope, in Madrid, where they announced: “See you in 2016“.
