Toundra is an instrumental rock band from Madrid created in the summer of 2007. Formed at the beginning by Victor, Alberto and Guillermo from Nacen de las Cenizas and by Esteban from Ten Minute Man.

In November 2007, after a few months of rehearsals, they recorded two demos (Bajamar and Orbita) with Emilio Seismo at Seismo Estudios. They send them to Alberto from Astoria Records and he offers to edit them on a 7”. In the end the edition is not done because they prefer to do more songs and thus be able to get something more extensive. In December 2007, Toundra recorded an EP that was going to be released as a 10” on Astoria Records, but this time with Carlos Santos at Sadman Studios (Ictus, Adrift, Aathma, Another kind of death). In this 5-day session they record Bajamar, Pleamar, Orbita and Medusa. The album is sent to Peter in DeBetou (Dimmy Borgir, Dark Tranquility) for mastering.

In January 2008 they uploaded the songs to myspace and received a very good reception. That same day, Red Chalk Records (Arindelle) offers them to edit a CD version of what they had recorded but adding two more songs. In February 2008 they entered again to record with Carlos Santos and from there Jauria and Tesalia came out. They mastered again with Peter in DeBetou and in April 2008 Toundra’s first LP was released on CD and 12” vinyl: Toundra (I) In May 2008 they recorded a demo of a new song, Embalse, at EstudiosUno from Madrid with Babe Pulido. In September 2008 Guillermo leaves the band and Alex (Gone with the Pain) joins. In December 2008 they entered again to record a new song; Genesis. This time they would also repeat with Carlos Santos and have the collaboration of Juan Blas (Nothink) for vocals. Santi Garcia masters.

In January 2009, the split 7” with Hand of Fatima was released, released by Astoria Records, Nooirax productions and Odio Sonoro. In March 2009 a new version of Toundra (I) with an extra track (Genesis) and a new artwork goes on sale in France, Germany and Brazil edited by Basement Apes Industries (France) and Criminal Attack Records (Brazil).

In November 2009 they announced their signing by Aloud Music, which will release their next CD in May 2010 and the vinyl will be co-released between Aloud, Astoria and the German label Narshardaa.

The album, called II, goes on sale in May 2010, in the midst of an unprecedented success of the label’s download policy. Thousands of people download the disc in a few days. The band presents it at a showcase in Barcelona, ??during Primavera Sound 2010, and with an impressive crowd together with (lo:muêso) in the Ritmo y Compás room.

After the summer, Toundra will play at BAM 2010, the Barcelona festivities, in a historic concert that is recorded by Diego Olmo in a fantastic video: Medusa at BAM 2010. From there, the tour takes them to play all over the country: Madrid, Bilbao, Donosti, Coruña, Vigo, Valladolid, Seville, Cádiz, Barcelona, ??…

In 2011, the band was part of the festival Primavera Sound 2011, this time within the Forum’s programming, went through the Resurrection Fest of Viveiro, the DCode Fest Madrid and closed a fantastic year with a historic soldout on December 10, at the Sala Caracol, playing his 2 albums (with guests) in front of 500 people, being a sold-out remembered by the coincidence of the concert with the football classic Real Madrid – Barcelona.

In 2012, the band finishes the composition of “III”. They will give 2 shows in Madrid in small festivals, before recording the album in May. Again the team repeats, Carlos Santos (Sadman Studios) for recording, Juan Blas (Westline Studios) in pre-production and Santi & Victor García (Ultramarinos Costa Brava) in mixing and mastering. Before releasing the album, one last show at the Costa de Fuego Festival (Benicàssim), in July 2012, in front of a full tent.

In September 2012, “III” was released with unprecedented success. The 200 special copies sell out in less than one night, and close to 500 copies are sold in the first week, sold entirely through the website of his Aloud Music label.

The band goes on tour in Europe, France, Switzerland and Germany, putting on some well-rounded concerts that culminate with a sold out at the historic Schokoladen in Berlin in front of a dedicated audience.

Once in Spain, they literally destroy Monkey Week in a concert on the same floor, in front of a packed room, and recalling the atmosphere of what was lived in Seattle in the early 90s. The comparison is not accidental and Toundra begin to soldout rooms wherever they go. With the gigs in Malaga, Murcia, Valladolid and Valencia they end an extraordinary year, which precedes a 2013 that begins magically.

On January 12, 2013 Toundra soldout the Kafe Antzokia in a truly memorable presentation concert. The presentations in Barcelona (Aloud Music Festival) and Madrid, in the mythical Joy Eslava, border on historical figures, with nearly 1000 people in each one.

From there, concerts throughout Spain and presentations at prestigious festivals such as Primavera Sound, FIB or Resurrection Festival.

At the end of the summer of 2013, Toundra announce their brand new signing by Superball / Century Media, with whom they will release their fourth album. Good luck friends.
