BIO

“The universe is a music box, since it is composed in proportions equivalent to the intervals of the musical octave” – NÉSTOR EIDLER

Exxasens, a project founded in 2008 by Jordi Ruiz and consolidated as a band since 2011, could be considered an instrumental rock band, or post-rock, although with certain nuances that place it in a style close to progressive and cosmic rock.

The EXXASENS sound could be defined as a mixture of a multitude of styles, where guitars with long echoes, spatial synthesizers and well-defined and forceful rhythmic bases predominate. In it, influences ranging from Pink Floyd, U2 or The Cure to instrumental bands such as Explosions in the Sky or Mogwai are recognized.

Since consolidation as a band in 2011, they have performed numerous shows at a national and European level, sharing the stage with important bands within the genre such as Toundra (Spain), Maybeshewill (UK), 65daysofstatic (UK), Tides of Nebula (Poland), Sleepmakeswaves (Australia), Alright the Captain (UK), I’m waiting for your last summer (Russia) o The best Pessimist (Ukrania).

The powerful direct supported by a brilliant multimedia part that further enriches each show of EXXASENS, has allowed them to be part of some of the most prestigious festivals at European level, Astral Fest (Moscu,St.Petestburgo, 2011,2012), AMFest 2014 (Barcelona, Spain), Dunk! festival (Belgium, 2014), ProgPower (Netherlands, 2015), Festival Cruïlla (Barcelona, 2014), Primavera Sound (Barcelona, 2015), Bilbao BBK Live (Bilbao 2015), where they were acclaimed by critics and audiences. In 2016 they played at BeProg My Friend (Barcelona) or in Romania, as well as a presentation tour of their new album that leads them to fill the Sala Bikini in Barcelona in the Ciclo Curtcircuit.

Russia deserves a separate mention, since in 2016 they will complete their fourth consecutive tour of such distant lands, in two of them being headliners of one of the most important instrumental music festivals in the world: the Astral Fest. Passing through Moscow, St. Petersburg, kyiv and Yekaterinburg, EXXASENS has played during these 4 years for more than 4000 people, consolidating a loyal audience in Eastern Europe.

At the end of 2016 the band decides to break up and Jordi Ruiz parks the project indefinitely. It is in 2019 when he surprises with the publication of “Revolution“, already released under the parameter of his own ExxaRecords label. Since then, and already after the pandemic, the band resumes performing live with the addition of Carles Sucarrats on guitar, and in quintet format they plan to release a new album that will be co-released again by Aloud Music and ExxaRecords.
